In 4th, 5th and 6th class we have been working very hard on Science and Engineering over the past few weeks.

As part of the work for our Green Flag No. 3 Theme-Water, we learned all about Filtering Water. Then we carried out an Experiment to show how water is filtered naturally in the land.

We also learned all about Magnets, Magneism and Electromagnets. Again we got hands on experience by carrying out Experiments. We had lots of different materials and discovered wich were attracted to magnets and which were not. We also got to make Electromagnets.

We then learned about Computer Programming. We used Code to programme. Coding is what makes it possible to create computer software, apps and websites. The web site we used for coding is www.code.org.

The next project was design. We used Lego Technic’s and Designed and built  different mechanical items.

Congratulations to the pupils from 6th class who received their Confirmation in the Church of The Most Holy Redeemer, Ballymore on 11th February.

We celebrated Grandparents’ Day on Wednesday, February 3rd. On Monday the children made St. Brigid’s Crosses.  Fr. Tony blessed the crosses at mass on Wednesday morning. In the afternoon, the Grandparents and parents joined the children for a prayer service in our GP room. The children performed a selection of music, song and poems for the Grandparents. Afterwards, the children brought their grandparents to see their classrooms and around the school. they also played some board games together. Light refreshments were served.  All visitors were given a St. Brigid’s Cross to bring home.

Supermacs Trip

Recently Maria Loddick (Senior Infants) and Emily Ray (6^th Class) won the supermacs Art competition. Their prize was a Pizza Make and Bake session for their class.  On Friday, December 4^th both classes thoroughly enjoyed their Make/Bake session in Supermacs, Moate.  Sincere thanks to the staff of Supermacs for both their kindness and generosity in providing the children with refreshments.
